Honor Code
Every student has the right to learn, and any student who cheats, plagiarizes, or otherwise commits academic dishonesty is stealing learning time and opportunities from other students, as well as from the author whose intellectual work is being copied. This will not be tolerated.
- Plagiarism
Definition: n. the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work.
There is a zero tolerance policy for plagiarism and cheating in this classroom. Any paper, test, comic or other assignment found to be plagiarized immediately earns a zero, a detention, and a parent conference will be called. Repeat offenses will constitute a meeting with administrators.
To avoid this problem, please consult the SSHS Style guide for proper citation guides.
- Cheating
Definition: n. To act dishonestly; practice fraud; to violate rules deliberately
In this class, any person caught cheating receives a zero on the assignment with no make-up work or extra credit and a parent conference. Repeat offenses will involve school administrators.
The Simi Valley Unified School District Secondary Schools’ Discipline Policy states the following consequences for plagiarism, cheating, academic dishonesty and changing of grades:
Conference with student and/or parent and/or one (1) to five (5) day suspension
Consequences applied depend on the severity of the student’s behavior and the frequency of such behavior
